One Door Closes, Another Door Opens

In my mind, one of the most important characteristics of Natalie McMasters is her exuberance and unbridled optimism (true, it often gets her in trouble, but that only makes for a good story). So when the narrator for the audiobook of Stripper! quit last week in the middle of the project, I had to channel Nattie to summon the optimism to deal with adversity.

I went back on the ACX website and started hunting narrators again. I contacted over a hundred to find the first one, and I was sure that I’d have to do the same thing again. Only this time, I had a release date and I was already scheduling a blog tour.

Luckily, it only took a few days to receive an audition from Lisa Ware, of Voices from LSWARE. (Check out her website https://lswareonline.com/) Listening to her narration, it was like I was sitting in the 3M office with Amos, Danny and Nattie! I immediately contacted her to propose that she narrate Stripper!, and she accepted!

Ms. Lisa S. Ware – Storyteller Extraordinaire

So the audiobook project is back on track. When it’s released in November, I will have have codes for listeners to get a free copy in exchange for a review on Audible. The number of codes is limited, so sign up early to make sure you get one. I’ll soon be making an audiobook page for the website with the sales info and other material–watch for it.

My Latest Sherlock Holmes Story is Coming Soon!

My latest Sherlock Holmes short story, The Witch of Ellenby, will appear in Volume XVIII of the MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories, which is being published as a set of three volumes, XVI to XVIII.  The MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories is the world’s largest collection of Sherlock Holmes stories, and the theme of the stories in the latest three volumes is Whatever Remains… Must Be The Truth. This means that the stories must have a supernatural element, but the mystery must have a mundane explanation. The collection contains forewords from Sherlockian author Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Roger Johnson of the Sherlock Holmes Society of London.

All of the stories in this collection are cannonical pastiches, which means that they are written in the style of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s original stories. The Witch of Ellenby is set in 1899. The majority of the action takes place in the village of Ellenby, in England’s beautiful Lakes District, where Holmes and Watson have been summoned to investigate a case of witchcraft. Steve Emecz of MX Publishing recently interviewed me about my contributions to the series and about my Natalie McMasters Mysteries (available on this website on The Books tab).

The MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories is the brainchild of its editor, David Marcum, one of the world’s leading Sherlockians. In 2015, he wanted to create a new collection traditional Holmes stories in Conan Doyle’s original format, and partnered with MX Publishing to do so. The decision was taken to donate all of the royalties from the project to the Stepping Stones School for special needs children, housed at Conan Doyle’s former residence, Undershaw. As with previous volumes, all the royalties from the collection are being donated to Stepping Stones .

The new books are currently available for pre-order at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mxpublishing/mx-book-of-new-sherlock-holmes-stories-vols-xvi-to-xviii) in hardback, paperback or electronic format until 5 September 2019. You are encouraged to pre-order, because this will help the publisher to defray publication and shipping costs. The three volumes will be published in October.

Here is the 3M Detective Agency Newsletter for June

I can no longer send .pdf files to my subscribers with Mailchimp, so I am resorting to this method to attempt to get it to you. I will send the url of this blog to all of you via Mailchimp, and you’ll have to download it from here. I’m sorry for the difficulty of this process, but I must do what I can.

I also must say that I’m very disappointed with Mailchimp and will be finding another service to host my broadcast emails soon. Mailchimp has always been difficult to use and unresponsive to their clients, and now they seem to have disabled the ability to host either .pdf or .doc files on the site. They never allowed traditional email attachments, so the only way you could send a file was to upload it to Mailchimp and send a link to the subscribers. Apparently, that no longer works.

Please contact me and let me know that you’ve recieved your copy of the newsletter by using the contact form on this website. Thanks.

The Natalie McMasters Mysteries Have Gone Wide!

The big news of the day is that you can now buy the Natalie McMasters e-books from many other distributors besides Amazon and in other formats besides Kindle. Stripper! and Revenge! are no longer on Kindle Unlimited, and Trafficked! will come off at the end of this month.

To celebrate this milestone, the first volume of the series, Stripper!, is available for $0.99 for a limited time from the following distributors.

Please tell all your friends who use these formats.

Stripper! is the first book of the series. It tells of Nattie’s decision to go undercover in a strip club to search for a vicious assassin who killed her best friend and critically wounded her Uncle Amos. It sets the stage for the other books in the series, Revenge! and Trafficked!

It’s Launch Day!

It’s finally here! The third Natalie McMasters Mystery, Trafficked!, is live on Amazon. And the Great Trafficked! Blog Tour continues on M. K. Graff’s blog, Auntie M Writes, at https://auntiemwrites.com/2019/04/01/thomas-a-burns-jr-trafficked/. Check it out!
